Terms & Conditions
Version 2026-09-30. Written in plain language on purpose.
1. Free now. A membership may come later.
Project On Main is free during early access. In the future we may offer a paid membership for some features (for example, the Circles chatrooms, advanced reports or saved tools). If we do:
- We'll tell you at least 30 days before any paid plan starts, by email and on the site.
- You will never be charged unless you choose a paid plan and enter payment details yourself.
- You can keep a free account. Some tools, like the Pricing Scorecard, will always have a free version.
- Founding members (everyone who joins during early access) will be offered a founding-member price or perk.
- Any paid plan will show its price, what's included and how to cancel before you pay, and you can cancel any time.
2. Your account
You must be at least 16 to join. Keep your login email secure; you're responsible for activity on your account. Tell us if you think someone else has access.
3. Your information
How we collect and use your information is explained in our Privacy Policy. In short: your contact details are never shown to other members, and prices and survey answers are only shared as combined numbers.
4. Community rules
Project On Main only works if it's a safe place. In Circles, stories, posts, comments and pro pages:
- Be respectful. No hate, harassment, bullying, threats, or sexual or violent content.
- Protect privacy. No client names, no private details about anyone, and no screenshots of other members' messages.
- Only post photos and videos you have the right to share, and only show a client if they agreed. You're responsible for getting that permission.
- No spam, scams or impersonation, and no selling or recruiting in the Circles unless a room allows it.
- Only post your own work on your pro page.
- Play it straight with salons. Don't use Project On Main to solicit another salon's clients, share a salon's client information, or coach others to.
5. Reports, removal and bans
Any member can report a message, photo, story or post. When separate members report the same message it may be hidden automatically. When several members report someone within a short time, that person's posting may be paused automatically until we review it. We may remove content, pause posting, or close accounts that break these rules, at our discretion, with or without notice. To keep people safe, our moderators can see which member posted something, including anonymous posts.
6. What you post
You own what you post. You give us permission to host and show it on Project On Main where you posted it (and, for public pro pages, to anyone on the web) so the site can work. Stories and chat photos are deleted automatically after about 24 hours, but other people can still screenshot what they see, so only share what you're comfortable with. If you believe something posted here infringes your rights, contact us and we'll review it.
7. Members are responsible for themselves
Members are independent people. We don't check anyone's license, skills, work history or claims, and we don't endorse any member, salon, product or service mentioned here. If you book, hire, work with, buy from or meet someone you found through Project On Main, you do so at your own risk. Use good judgment, and meet in public places.
7b. Mentoring
Mentors are members we invite because they've been helpful in the community. They volunteer their time and share their own experience; they aren't our employees, and we don't verify their licenses or background. Mentoring conversations happen in private side chats on Project On Main. Never send money or personal financial details, keep conversations here, and report anything that feels off. We can remove a Mentor badge at any time.
7c. Sponsored content and perks
Project On Main may show sponsored posts and member perks from partner brands, always labeled “Sponsored.” A sponsored post isn't an endorsement by us or by members. Offers are provided by the brand, on the brand's terms, and we aren't responsible for their products or services.
8. Tools and advice are a guide, not professional advice
The Pricing Scorecard, What If tools, reports, formulas and anything members say are for general information only. They are estimates and opinions, not financial, tax, legal, medical or chemical-safety advice. Always follow manufacturer directions and do a strand or patch test. Information about contracts or non-competes is not legal advice; talk to an attorney about your own agreement.
9. Salon information
Salon details we publish (like whether a salon uses a non-compete) are based on information we've verified at the time. We never reveal who shared it. Salons can contact us to correct information.
10. Changes and ending your account
We may update these terms; if a change matters, we'll tell you ahead of time and ask you to agree again. You can close your account any time, and we may suspend or close accounts that misuse the site.
11. The legal part
The site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We aren't responsible for what members post or do, on or off the site. To the extent the law allows, Project On Main and the people behind it aren't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $100 or what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. You agree to cover our reasonable costs if a claim is brought against us because of something you posted or did in breach of these terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio.
